At Universo Tequila, we invite you to experience Mexico’s iconic spirit through a guided, sensory journey. Set in the heart of Ajijic on the shores of Lake Chapala, our tasting room offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich heritage, aromas, and flavors that define authentic Tequila.
Through a curated tasting experience, you’ll sample a wide range of Tequilas from across the official Denomination of Origin Tequila (D.O.T.) regions. Learn to identify the distinct organoleptic (sensory) qualities in each class:
Blanco (White or Silver)
Joven (Gold)
Reposado (Aged)
Añejo (Extra Aged)
Extra Añejo (Ultra Aged)
Choose from one of our three tasting packages, each featuring 3 premium Tequilas (2 oz pours) and a thoughtful pairing of Mexican snacks. Our tastings are designed to be both educational and enjoyable, perfect for curious newcomers and seasoned connoisseurs alike.
As part of our commitment to responsible enjoyment, we limit each guest to one tasting package per day. Please note: bottles purchased onsite may not be opened or consumed within the tasting room.

Under the guidance of Gabriela Cañedo, a globally recognized Tequila Connoisseur with extensive industry experience and expertise, you will embark on an exceptional Tequila Experience. Cañedo, a member of the esteemed Mexican National Chamber of the Tequila Industry’s (CNIT) nine-member Tequila Connoisseur panel, will guide you through an immersive experience that will unveil the unique organoleptic characteristics of each Tequila classes
Universo Tequila will provide all the necessary components for this exceptional experience (up to 6 people are included in the fee). The experience includes four 2oz glasses of exceptional Tequila brands categorized as:
Blanco (White)
Reposado (Aged)
Añejo (Extra Aged)
Extra Añejo (Ultra Aged)
Complementing these exquisite Tequilas, delectable snacks of sliced assorted meats, nuts, olives, and chocolates will be provided to enhance the pairing experience.
The duration of the Tequila Experience is approximately one hour. You can have up to 10 people for the experience, you need to add each additional person over 6 people when you check out.

Tequila Master Class
Guided by Gabriela Cañedo, a highly experienced and accomplished professional in the Tequila Industry, she is one of the nine individuals globally recognized as a Tequila Connoisseur by the Mexican National Chamber of the Tequila Industry. Notably, Forbes magazine honored her in 2021 as one of the top ten women in the Tequila Industry.
During the Tequila Master Class, participants (6 adults are included in the fee) will have the privilege of engaging in an extraordinary sensory experience, exploring a range of Tequila products. This will allow you to discover a multitude of aromas and flavors within the brands they sample.
To elucidate the distinctions between each Tequila catagories and profile, She has selected a diverse selection of brands from the three Tequila groups that comprise Universo Tequila.
Includes: 4 Tequila´s glasses in 4 different classes, factories and regions. The Master Class can have up to 10 adults, each additional person over 6 must be added at checkout.
